BitJazz Tools 2.0:
The BitJazz Tools 2.0 folder is installed in the location of your choice.
All the BitJazz Tools files are installed in this folder.
On the Macintosh,
the actual BitJazz Tools files (except the PhotoJazz engine) are only installed in the BitJazz Tools folder;
Aliases to these files are put elsewhere on your system as necessary.
This makes it easy for you to store a backup copy, see how much space it takes up,
and deinstall virtually all of it without keeping the installer.
(Because of a problem installing shared-library aliases in Mac OS 8.1,
a copy of the PhotoJazz engine is installed in the Extensions folder instead of an alias.)
In Windows,
the corresponding notion of shortcuts is not yet sufficiently well developed,
so actual copies of the various BitJazz Tools files are put elsewhere on your system as needed.
BitJazz:
The BitJazz state-of-the-art perfect-fidelity image compression engine is implemented as a
shared library or dynamically-linked library to be used by all BitJazz Tools,
as well as by third-party PhotoJazz-enabled plug-ins and applications.
On the Macintosh,
a copy of the "BitJazz" shared library is installed in your
"
System Folder:
Extensions" folder.
In Windows,
a copy of the "BitJazz.dll" dynamically linked library is installed in your
"Windows\system32" folder.
In either case, once the system is restarted, the latest BitJazz library is available
for all BitJazz-aware applications to use.

or Movie protocols, including the PictureViewer and QuickTime Player
applications that come for free with QuickTime.

The Personalize BitJazz Tools application lets you personalize your copy of PhotoJazz with your name,
your company name, and, if you have purchased PhotoJazz, your serial number.
If you previously evaluated PhotoJazz,
and have now purchased a PhotoJazz license and received your serial number,
you will need to rerun Personalize BitJazz Tools and enter your serial number in the space provided
in order to turn off the magic watermarking feature.
If you previously purchased PhotoJazz Lite (or Pro) and have now upgraded to a PhotoJazz Pro
(or Expert) license, you will need to rerun Personalize BitJazz Tools,
press the Reset button to re-enable the Serial # field,
and enter your new serial number to enable saving non-RGB (or 16-bit-channel) images
without magic watermarks.
If you accidentally make a mistake and type in the incorrect serial number,
you will still be able to view and decompress PhotoJazz image files,
but you will not be able to compress them without watermarking.
You can rerun the Personalize BitJazz Tools application at any time and press the Reset button
to enter the correct serial number.
