Adobe Photoshop
Image Modes

PhotoJazz currently supports all photo-quality image modes supported by Adobe Photoshop, including any number of spot color and alpha channels. It also supports Photoshop's non-image data, including (in Photoshop 5.0.2 and later) ICC profiles. PhotoJazz 2.0 adds support for 16-bit channels.

  • RGB Color
  • CMYK Color
  • Grayscale
  • Duotone (including Monotone, Tritone and Quadtone)
  • Lab Color
  • Multichannel (any number)
  • Spot Colors (any number)
  • Alpha Channels (any number)
  • 8-Bit Channels
  • 16-Bit Channels (new in version 2)
  • ICC Profiles

PhotoJazz does not support the low-quality Bitmap and Indexed Color modes. If you want to save a Bitmap-mode image as a PhotoJazz image file, convert it to Grayscale mode first. To save an Indexed Color image in PhotoJazz format, convert it to RGB Color mode first.

Adobe Photoshop supports a maximum of 24 channels. Additional channels are ignored on input.

Adobe Photoshop 5.x supports 16-bit channels only for the RGB, CMYK, and Grayscale image modes.

Adobe Photoshop 5.x can write but cannot read CMYK images with 16 bits/channel for Raw format or for any format using a plug-in, including PhotoJazz. Photoshop can read CMYK files with 16 bits/channel in PSD and TIFF formats, which do not use plug-ins.

16-bit channel output was fixed in Adobe Photoshop 5.0.2.

ICC Profile input was fixed in Adobe Photoshop 5.0.2. You can download a free Adobe Photoshop 5.0.2 Update for Macintosh or Windows from the Adobe web-site.
