To view a PhotoJazz image from a Portfolio catalog in a separate window:
-
Select the PhotoJazz image in the catalog window.
-
Select Item > Preview Original
.
or
-
Double-click on the thumbnail or the name of the PhotoJazz image in the catalog window.
While Portfolio is opening the PhotoJazz image,
the PhotoJazz decompressor's progressive display feature
displays the tiles on the fly as they are decompressed.
Portfolio does not cache the decompressed PhotoJazz image.
Instead, Portfolio relies on the PhotoJazz QT to decompress the image again
whenever any part of it needs to be redisplayed.
This lets Portfolio open PhotoJazz images of any size with very little memory.
PhotoJazz QT is smart enough to decompress only those tiles which are visible.
This selective decompression feature is especially useful when zooming in on huge images.

For viewing convenience, PhotoJazz QT converts the pixels in the PhotoJazz source image
to the pixel format of your display on the fly,
so you don't have to wait for the whole windowful or the whole image to get decompressed before you see anything.
PhotoJazz QT uses a quick general-purpose algorithm to convert from CMYK to RGB,
and converts duotone and other multitone images to grayscale.
Portfolio does not support L*a*b* or multichannel images,
and cannot create thumbnails for or view images in these color modes.
Portfolio does not support spot colors or alpha channels.
These channels are ignored in thumbnail creation and image viewing.
