SheerVideo User Manual Sheer CodecsSheer Y'CbCr 8bw 4:2:2
Sheer Y'CbCr 8bw 4:2:2
is for cutting and archiving standard-precision digitized video
that has been digitized in the obsolete format 'yuvu', or 'yuv2' .
This codec perfectly encodes all Y'CbCr 8bw 4:2:2 source footage in real time,
with an average compression power of 2.32,
so that the Sheer Y'CbCr 8bw 4:2:2 files take up only 43% as much space as the uncompressed Y'CbCr 8bw 4:2:2 originals,
with zero loss of information.
Sheer Y'CbCr 8bw 4:2:2 both encodes and decodes losslessly in real time
from and to all Y'CbCr 8bw 4:2:2 pixel formats ('yuvu' and 'yuv2'),
making it ideal for processing in those formats.
The Sheer Y'CbCr 8bw 4:2:2 codec is provided for backward compatibility only, and does not support alpha or Synchromy.
The wide-range Y'CbCr 8bw 4:2:2 pixel formats are considered obsolete, and have been superseded by video-range Y'CbCr 8bw 4:2:2 pixel formats.
