PhotoJazz Known Problems

Saving files with PhotoJazz for Windows evaluation:
When evaluating PhotoJazz for Windows, PhotoJazz sometimes brings up an error dialog and refuses to save a file instead of going ahead and saving the image with a magic watermark. BitJazz is working on solving this problem. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and thank you in advance for your patience.

16-bit CMYK Channels in Photoshop:
Photoshop has a bug such that it can write but not read CMYK images with 16 bits per channel for Raw images or any file format using a plug-in. BitJazz Inc. has alerted Adobe to this problem.

Lab and Multichannel in PhotoJazz QT:
QuickTime does not currently support CIE L*a*b* or Multichannel images. Images in these color modes cannot be opened by PhotoJazz QT. BitJazz Inc. is investigating solutions to this problem.

Alpha and Spot-Color Channels in PhotoJazz QT:
QuickTime does not currently support spot-color channels or multiple alpha channels. These channels are ignored on input by PhotoJazz QT. BitJazz Inc. is investigating solutions to this problem.

Multitone and 16-bit CMYK Channels in PhotoJazz QT:
QuickTime does not currently support Multitone (Monotone/Duotone/Tritone/Quadtone) images or 16-bit CMYK channels. PhotoJazz QT converts Multitone images to Grayscale, ignoring the color specifications, and converts 16-bit CMYK channels to 8 bits per channel. BitJazz Inc. is investigating solutions to this problem.

Metadata in PhotoJazz QT:
PhotoJazz QT does not yet support metadata (non-image data). Metadata are ignored on input and output, except when repackaging PhotoJazz images containing metadata without recompressing. BitJazz Inc. regrets that this feature was not completed in time for the 2.0.0 release of PhotoJazz. It will be added soon.

PhotoJazz Images in Netscape:
The Netscape QuickTime Plugin has a bug that prevents it from displaying PhotoJazz images properly. Apple Computer has discovered a workaround that usually fixes the problem. BitJazz Inc. is working with Apple to solve this problem.

ICC profiles in PhotoJazzXT:
In QuarkXPress, if you open a PhotoJazz image containing an ICC profile, the Profile pop-up in the Get Picture… dialog usually says Default (unless the most recent TIFF file you opened contained an ICC), and the Profiles Information palette always likewise says the Profile is Default. The problem is that QuarkXPress currently ignores ICC profiles passed to it by third-party XTensions. BitJazz is working with Quark to solve this problem.

Multichannel in PhotoJazz XT:
QuarkXPress does not currently support Multichannel images. Images in this color mode cannot be opened by PhotoJazz XT. BitJazz Inc. is investigating solutions to this problem.

Multitone, Spot Colors, and 16-bit CMYK and Lab Channels in PhotoJazz XT:
QuarkXPress does not currently support Multitone (Monotone/Duotone/Tritone/Quadtone) images, Spot-Color channels, or 16-bit CMYK or Lab channels. PhotoJazz XT converts Multitone images to Grayscale, ignores Spot-Color channels on input, and converts 16-bit CMYK and Lab channels to 8 bits per channel. BitJazz Inc. is working on a method of passing this information through to the printer.
